Our Philosophy
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the Committee for Early Childhood Development Head Start is to provide a comprehensive developmentally appropriate learning environment that will motivate and help develop a readiness to learn in children ages two to five years.
In order to achieve the confidence necessary to succeed in the present environment and to successfully handle later responsibilities in school and in life, this program provides all children with a safe, nurturing, engaging, enjoyable and secure learning environment that will enhance their cognitive, social/emotional, language and physical growth.
We utilize the Creative Curriculum model to address children’s collective and individual needs. The Creative Curriculum is based on the concept that young children learn best by doing. It is built on the child development theory that all children learn through active exploration of their environment and therefore the environment plays a critical role in learning. The Creative Curriculum is also designed to foster the development of the whole child through teacher-led small and large group activities.
Each child is treated as an individual. The Committee for Early Childhood Development Head Start is also supportive of children with disabilities.
