  • WE'RE BACK!!!! Time to dig into a new school year!
  • September 13 is "Grandparents Day," a day to honor grandparents, highlight the wisdom older generations pass down to youth, and encourage family connections.
  • September 17 is "Dads Take Your Child to School Day," a day  that promotes the positive involvement of fathers and father figures in their children's education and development. This year marks the 20th anniversary.
  • The first day of fall (or autumn) occurs on September 22.
  • :Food Service Workers Day" fall on September 25. This is a day to recognize and thank the people who prepare the meals for our children.
  • CECD Head Start offers free consultation services for Health, Mental Health and Nutrition concerns, for both you, your child or your family. Please speak to your Family Assistant for more information or to schedule an appointment.
  • Become an active parent/guardian/caregiver!!! Get involved in all of the meetings, trainings and activities that CECD Head Start has to offer. Check your site calendar for specific meetings, activities and events.
  • Stay in touch with your Family Assistant. and ask about becoming a classroom volunteer.


 Announcements/Dates to Remember


  • School is closed for Staff Development and Opening Procedures on September 1.
  • Virtual Parent Orientation will take place on September 2.
  • Transition Days will take place on September 3 and September 4. Your child will be in school for 2 hours on these days (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM or 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM).
  • School will be closed for Labor Day on September 7. Regular hours will start on September 8.
  • The monthly Home-Based Socialization Visit will take place at the Sutphin site on September 18 at 10:00 AM.
  • The first virtual Educational Follow-Through parent workshop will be held on September 21 at 10:00 AM. The topic is "Welcome to the Classroom."
  • Children will be dismissed at 12:30 PM on September 25.
  • The virtual Classroom Elections Orientation will be held on September 30 at 10:00 AM. It is very important that all parents participate in this orientation and next month's classroom elections.
  • Please make sure your child has a full set of extra clothes at all time (clothes that are appropriate for the warmer weather).


Arrival time is 8:15 AM. Dismissal time is 3:15-3:30 PM.

Dismissal time is 12:30 PM on the last Friday of every month
