• January 2 is "Good Luck Day.," a day to recognize fresh starts and hopes for a great year ahead.
• We celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19. This a day to remember the life and work of Dr. King., a civil rights leader who fought for racial equality and justice..
• January 21 is "National Hugging Day." This day promotes affection show that hugging is a normal and positive way to express love and support.
• The Creative Curriculum themes for January are "Clothes" for the 2-year-olds and "Roads" for the 3s and 4s. The CECD theme for all children is "Winter."
• Become an active parent/guardian/caregiver!!! Get involved in all of the meetings, trainings and activities that CECD Head Start has to offer. Check your site calendar for specific meetings, activities and events.
• Check your site's calendar for monthly consultant visits (Health, Mental Health and Nutrition).
• Stay in touch with your Family Assistant. and ask about becoming a classroom volunteer.
• Please note that we follow the NYC DOE schedule regarding school closings/remote learning due to inclement weather.

• School will be closed on January 1 (New Year's Day), January 2 (Staff Development Day) and January 19 (Martin Luther King Day).
• January 23: this is the last day for children born in 2021 to register for kindergarten in the DOE. Please see your Family Assistant for assistance.
• January 30: Early Dismissal at 12:30 PM.
