May is here, and we welcome its arrival!!!

• The month of May is recognized as National Mental Health Month. May 9th is National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day. This helps to raise awareness of the importance of children's mental health and that positive mental health is essential to a child's healthy develoment.
• May isHaitian Heritage Month. iThis is an opportunity for individuals to celebrate the rich culture, distinctive art, delicious food and traditions of the Haitian culture. Haition Flag Day is celebrated on May 18th.
• May is Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month. May 7th is World Asthma Day. This helps to raise awareness about allergies and asthma.
• May 1st is May Day, a spring holiday in many cultures that features singing, dancing and flowers.
• Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican day of festival and parades, is celebrated on May 5th.
• Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is observed on May 6th-May 10th. This is a time to recognize those who not only instruct, but all staff who inspire, motivate and guide our next generation.
• May 9th is National Teacher Day. Let's give our CECD teachers a big hand for all of their hard work.
• We honor mothers and other female caregivers on Mother's Day, May 12th.
• On Memorial Day, May 27th, we remember and honor those who gave their lives in battle.
• The Creative Curriculum themes for April are "Shoes" for the 2-year olds and "Buildings" for the 3s and 4s.
• The CECD theme for all children is “Community Helpers.”

• Speak to your site Educational Director or Family Assistant regarding the dates of May site visits by our consultants (health, mental health and nutrition). Your Family Assistant can assist you in making an appointment.
• Please label your child’s clothing (coats, jackets, hoodies and sweaters…even shoes). Talk to your child about the label and explain that other children may have the same type of clothing. Help us minimize clothing going home with the wrong child. Writing on the size tag with a permanent marker is the easiest and most inexpensive way of labeling your child’s clothing.
  
• Please bring your child to school on time (8:15 AM). We don’t want him/her to miss out!
• Dismissal time is 3:15 PM-3:30 PM daily and 12:30 PM on May 31.
