  • April is "Child Abuse Prevention Month," a time to raise awareness about child maltreatment.
  • April 1 is "April Fools' Day," a day to play fun and harmless tricks on one another.
  • April 2 is "World Autism Day," a day to heighten awareness about this mental condition that affects many children and adults.
  • Easter, a day that celebrates renewal and rebirth, is observed on April 5.
  • April 22 is "Earth Day," a day to focus on taking care of the planet.
  • "National Library Week" takes place during the week of April 19 and April 25. Visit your local library with your child regularly.
  • The Creative Curriculum themes for April are "Rocks" for the 2-year-olds and "Gardening" for the 3s and 4s. The CECD theme for all children is "Growing Things."
  • Become an active parent/guardian/caregiver!!! Get involved in all of the meetings, trainings and activities that CECD Head Start has to offer. Check your site calendar for specific meetings, activities and events.
  • Check your site's calendar for monthly consultant visits (Health, Mental Health and Nutrition).
  • Stay in touch with your Family Assistant. and ask about becoming a classroom volunteer.

  • Please make sure your child has a full set of extra clothes at all time (clothes that are appropriate for the warmer weather).
  • Arrival time is 8:15 AM. Dismissal time is 3:15-3:30 PM (12:30 PM on April 24).
