HEAD START IS TURNING 60 THIS YEAR!!!
Sunshine. Warmth. Joy. Fireworks. Happy July!!!
- It's July, and summer is in full swing!
- We celebrate the 249th birthday of the United States on July 4, Independence Day.
- National Ice Cream Day is celebrated on july 20.
- National Parents Day, a day to honor all parents, falls on July 27..
- Do your best to read aloud to your child every day.
- Parent volunteers are needed. Please speak to your Family Assistant for more information.
- Become familiar with the languages of the day:
- Monday: English
- Tuesday: Spanish
- Wednesday: Urdu
- Thursday: French
- Friday: Swahili
- The Creative Curriculum encourages learning by doing. The curriculum theme for July is "Insects" for the 3s and 4s. The 2-year olds will revisit the themes that they have worked on during the year.
- The CECD monthly theme for all children is“Summer.”
To the parents of children going to kindergarten in September: thank you for allowing us the privilege of helping to educate your child. Always remember...you are your child's first teacher!
To the parents of children returning in September: we are looking forward to another exciting year!

DATES TO REMEMBER
- July 4: School closed for Independence Day.
- July 11: Annual Family Day/Block Party
- July 24: Last day of school for children. Dismissal time is 11:30 AM.
- July 25: Closing procedures: No school for children.
School is closed for summer break July 28-August 15.
School is closed for children dor Opening Procedures/Staff Development August 18-August 22
School reopens for returning children on Monday, August 25.
Reminders:
- The children will have weekly "Sprinkler Days" during the summer. Please speak to your child's teacher or your site Educational director.
- Please make sure your child has a clean change of summer clothing available in his/her cubby.
- Please label your child’s clothing (coats, jackets, hoodies and sweaters…even shoes). Talk to your child about the label and explain that other children may have the same type of clothing. Help us minimize clothing going home with the wrong child. Writing on the size tag with a permanent marker is the easiest and most inexpensive way of labeling your child’s clothing.
- Please be on time for arrival (8:15 AM). Breakfast is served from 8:15 AM - 8:45 AM and we don't want your child to miss out!!!
- Dismissal time is 3:15 PM - 3:30 PM daily.
