1. What
is Head Start?
Head Start is a free, federally funded program specifically designed
for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. All
families must meet income eligibility requirements, as set by
federal guidelines.
2. How
can I enroll my child?
You must bring in the following original documents: your child’s
Birth Certificate, Health Record, Proof of Income, Proof of Residence
and Social Security Cards for all family members that are in
your household.
3. Can
I tour the facility before I register my child?
Our doors are always open. We suggest that you call and make
an appointment so time can be allotted for an escorted tour.
4. Do
you provide free meals?
Our on-site kitchen staff provides nutritional breakfast, lunch
and snack daily. A NYS Certified Nutritionist approves all menus.
5. Do
you have Universal Pre-Kindergarten?
Our program offers the UPK Program to children that are four
(4) years of age.
6. What
are the hours of operation?
Our hours of operation are as follows:
HEAD START HOURS
8:15 AM – 4:15 PM (Full Day)
8:15 AM – 11:45 AM (AM Half Day)
1:00 PM – 4:15 PM (PM Half Day)
UNIVERSAL PRE KINDERGARTEN HOURS
8:15 AM – 5:30 PM (Full Day)
8:15 AM – 12:30 PM (AM Half Day)
1:00 PM– 5:30 PM (PM Half Day)
7. How
can I get my child in a Full Day class?
Children are placed in full day classes on a first come, first
served basis. Placement is also based on availability of space
and special family needs, as defined in our policy.
8. Do
the children go on trips?
Field trips are scheduled throughout the school year.
9. Do
you provide services for children with special needs?
We complete educational screenings on all children to
ensure that they are developing appropriately. We provide special
education services for children, if necessary.
10.
Are the teachers certified?
All of our teachers have a degree and/or certificate in Early
Childhood Education or a related field.
11.
Is the program accredited?
Yes, CECD is National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC ) Accredited Site.
12.
Does the program have an open-door policy?
Parents are free to visit the center whenever they choose to.
Parents who would like to volunteer in the center must have a
up-to-date medical on file.
13.
Does my child have to wear a uniform?
Yes, CECD is a uniform school. Boys wear light blue
shirts and navy blue pants while the girls wear light blue blouse
and navy blue skirt or pants.
14.
Do you have more than one (1) site?
We have one large site, serving 250 children.
