EDUCATIONAL
CORNER
We celebrate the arrival of May in so many ways. Warm weather, flowers blooming, outdoor fun, and special days all help to make May an exciting month. Cinco De Mayo, a Mexican day of festivals and parades, is celebrated on May 5th. We honor our mothers (and all female caregivers) on May 10th, Mother’s Day. On May 16th, Armed Forces Day, we honor people who have served or are serving in a branch of the military. We remember and honor our loved ones who have passed away on Memorial Day, May 25th. May is also National Bike Month and Older Americans Month
May 10th–16th is “National Reading is Fun” Week. May 4th–8th is Teacher Appreciation Week. Let’s give our teachers a big hand for all of their hard work with the children! May 5th is National Teacher Day, a day to recognize those who not only instruct, but also inspire, motivate and guide our next generation.
The main theme for May is “Community Helpers.” The children will also learn about and prepare for Mother’s Day.
